Pray for your MAGA friends and family. Many are or will soon be facing an existential crisis of identity over a decade in the making. A collective fever is finally breaking with the clearing of the fog of a once tolerated cognitive dissonance as hearts are softening and eyes are being opened to that which is no longer deniable. This season is coming to an end. The blood is crying up from the ground and the long moral arc of the universe is bending, slowly, towards justice. Judgement is here, now.  On the other side of it are opportunities for clarity and accountability. Things like guilt, regret, and shame can become weapons to dispel the illusion and cultivate a more cruciform life. The pain they bring is good. The pain is necessary. It is a loving God’s harsh mercy that must diagnose the disease before it can prescribe its cure, must wound before it can heal.
